We are seeking a passionate and resilient English Teacher to join a specialist alternative provision in Rotherham, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This setting provides a nurturing, structured environment where relationships, consistency and high expectations sit at the heart of everything. Pupils are taught in small groups, allowing staff to truly get to know them and make a tangible difference to both their academic progress and personal development.

The Role

  • Deliver engaging and accessible English lessons up to KS3 and KS4
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet a wide range of SEMH needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may have had disrupted educational journeys
  • Work closely with a dedicated multidisciplinary team to support behaviour, wellbeing and outcomes
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive and restorative learning culture

The Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Proven experience working with SEMH pupils (essential)
  • Strong behaviour management skills rooted in empathy and consistency
  • Creative, flexible approach to teaching English
  • Ability to engage and motivate pupils who may be disengaged from mainstream education
