Senior Management Accountant (Fixed Term Contract - Maternity Cover)

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join a well-established, fast-paced organisation on a fixed term basis (up to 10 months) to cover maternity leave.

This is a key role within the finance team, ideal for someone who can hit the ground running and quickly add value in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly and monthly management accounts in line with reporting deadlines
• Maintain balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations
• Deliver budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts in collaboration with operational teams
• Provide variance analysis with clear, actionable insights
• Support year-end audits and statutory reporting
• Act as a finance business partner to operational stakeholders
• Produce detailed cost analysis (including labour, overheads, and product costing)
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators
• Drive improvements in financial controls, processes, and reporting
• Support finance system enhancements and integrations
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
• Mentor junior finance team members and build strong cross-functional relationships

About YouEssential

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Strong experience in a management accounting role
• Proven background in budgeting and forecasting
• Excellent balance sheet and reconciliation skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong Excel and financial systems expertise
• Able to start at short notice or immediately available

• Experience in a complex, fast-moving business environment
• Exposure to organisations undergoing change or transformation
