Onsite Operative

Base Location: Cheltenham (regular travel to external sites)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary:£32,000 – £40,000

Role Overview

A well-established business based in Cheltenham is seeking a reliable and practical Onsite Operative to support a variety of site-based projects. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The role involves travelling to client sites, meaning start times can be as early as 6:30am depending on location and project requirements. Finish times are typically around 4:00pm, although later finishes may be required on occasion.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of physical, hands-on duties in line with project requirements and specifications.
• Safely use and handle equipment and materials on-site.
• Follow all health & safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE at all times.
• Identify and report hazards, defects, or issues promptly to supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
• Assist with the movement, storage, and organisation of materials while minimising waste.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and contribute to the smooth running of daily operations.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in an on-site, industrial, construction, or hands-on operational role is preferred.
• A solid understanding of health & safety practices.
• Relevant site certifications (e.g. CSCS or similar) are beneficial but not essential.
• Basic IT skills, including email and simple use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work well within a team.
• Flexible approach to working hours and regular travel to site.
