CFO | £130,000 - £160,000 plus enhanced package | Wigan | Rapidly Growing SME
Axon Moore is pleased to be bringing this new opportunity to market. This is a pivotal CFO appointment within a rapidly growing SME entering the next stage of its evolution.
Led by an ambitious and entrepreneurial leadership team, the business has built strong momentum and now requires a commercially focused finance leader capable of supporting continued scale, professionalisation and long-term strategic growth.
The successful candidate will operate as a genuine partner to the CEO and wider leadership team, combining strategic capability with a highly hands-on approach. This is not a role for an individual who wants to remain purely at board level — the environment requires someone comfortable operating both strategically and within the operational detail of the business.
Given the nature of the organisation, experience within a contract-led, project-based or WIP accounting environment will be essential.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing the finance function through a period of continued growth
- Acting as a strategic advisor to the CEO across commercial performance, operational delivery and long-term planning
- Ownership of budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and financial controls
- Delivering meaningful commercial insight to support business decision-making
- Supporting the continued improvement of systems, reporting and financial processes
- Partnering closely with operational stakeholders across contract and project performance
- Maintaining a hands-on approach across both strategic and day-to-day financial management
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience as an FD / CFO in a high-growth environment
- Strong understanding of WIP accounting, contract accounting or project-based revenue models
- The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business
- A commercially minded and pragmatic approach
- Strong leadership capability, alongside a willingness to remain close to the operational detail
- The credibility and presence to influence at board level
The business operates with a highly collaborative and well-established culture, and therefore this role is fully office-based, five days per week. The leadership team places significant value on connection, collaboration and maintaining the strong team environment that has underpinned the company’s success to date.
