About the Role Our client, a respected local authority, is seeking a reliable and motivated Programmed Work Caretaker to join its Estate Services team. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across residential housing estates.
The successful candidate will play an important part in delivering customer-focused estate services while working collaboratively with residents, contractors, and internal teams. Duties may include deep cleaning, fly-tip removal, communal window cleaning, and basic estate maintenance tasks.
This role requires flexibility, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to delivering excellent services to residents and communities.
Key Responsibilities - Carry out deep cleaning of internal and external communal areas across housing estates
- Remove bulky waste items and fly-tipping from residential sites
- Undertake communal window cleaning up to the third floor in line with programmed schedules
- Use cleaning equipment, machinery, and products safely and effectively to meet service standards
- Drive and operate light goods vehicles and associated machinery as required
- Assist in maintaining estate cleanliness, safety, and appearance
- Report environmental and estate-related issues for prompt action
- Work closely with residents, contractors, and colleagues to support service delivery
- Carry out basic repairs and maintenance tasks including changing light bulbs and fixing signage
- Provide cover across different programmed work teams where required
- Maintain accurate communication using handheld technology and mobile applications
- Follow health & safety procedures including COSHH and risk assessments
- Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends where necessary
About You We are looking for someone who is practical, dependable, and customer-focused, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements - Full and valid UK driving licence
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience working in a customer service or public-facing environment
- Experience carrying out cleaning or caretaking duties
- Understanding of health & safety procedures including COSHH and risk assessments
- Ability to undertake physical duties including lifting and manual handling
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable using mobile devices and digital applications for work purposes
- Awareness of equality, diversity, and safeguarding responsibilities
Desirable Experience - Experience working within housing, estate services, or social housing environments
- Experience engaging directly with residents and local communities
