Senior Payroll Administrator (Full or Part-Time)

THE OPPORTUNITY

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced full or part timeSenior Payroll Administrator to join a friendly and progressive accountancy practice in Chester.

THE ROLE

As part of a busy payroll team, you'll manage a diverse portfolio of small and high-volume payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and delivering excellent service to clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • End-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Managing auto-enrolment pensions
  • Handling payroll queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Liaising with HMRC and pension providers
  • Processing BACS, PAYE, CIS, holiday pay, SMP/SSP
  • Managing starters and leavers (P45s/P46s)
  • Supporting P11D processing
  • Staying up to date with payroll legislation
  • Mentoring and supporting junior team members
  • You will receive full system training and ongoing support within a friendly, collaborative team environment.

ABOUT YOU

  • Proven payroll experience (accountancy practice or bureau preferred, but in-house considered)
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and processes
  • Experience with Sage 50 Payroll or BrightPay (training provided)
  • Ability to manage multiple payrolls and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office


SALARY & BENEFITS

  • Salary up to £31,000 (depending on experience)
  • 36 days holiday (including bank holidays and Christmas period)
