Shift/Production Manager

  • Salary: £45k-£50k
  • Hours: Position available on either AM (6am-16:30) or Night Shift (16:30-03:00)

We are seeking a dedicated Shift/Production Manager to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring that our production area conforms to all company and legislative health and safety requirements while driving a positive Health and Safety culture. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining smooth and cost-effective operations, meeting all customer requirements in terms of quality and delivery times, and maximizing yield while minimizing waste.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Health & Safety functions within your area, including regular inspections, accident investigations, and promoting a positive H&S culture.
  • Motivate and supervise a team of line leaders and operatives to achieve required production volumes, quality, and delivery times at minimum cost.
  • Monitor production efficiency using SIC boards and daily KPI information.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Analyze labor costs and operational efficiency to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure a consistent flow of production data for KPI reports in collaboration with the Senior Production Manager.
  • Review and enhance production methods and systems to improve efficiency.
  • Manage waste levels and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Personnel Manager/Training Officer to develop and deliver effective training programs and identify potential candidates for advancement.
  • Conduct regular team appraisals to set targets, review achievements, and address training or coaching needs.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Team to maintain production control procedures to the standards required by the company, customers, and FSA.
  • Manage holidays and absences within your team to maintain effective manning levels and adhere to company procedures for return to work and disciplinary actions.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within the food production industry.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in production efficiency monitoring and waste management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments to meet production goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement process improvements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
