Reed Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with PMLD in a primary school in Plymouth.

This is a highly rewarding role supporting a pupil working at foundation level, requiring a nurturing and adaptable approach to meet complex learning and developmental needs.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with profound and multiple learning difficulties
  • Delivering tailored activities aligned to foundation level learning
  • Supporting communication, sensory engagement and physical development
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team to implement individual support plans
  • Creating a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting pupils with PMLD or complex additional needs
  • Be patient, calm and highly empathetic
  • Be confident working at a foundation or early developmental level
  • Have an understanding of sensory approaches and differentiated learning
  • Be comfortable supporting personal care needs
  • Be able to build strong and consistent relationships
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
