Conveyancing Assistant (Residential Property)

Location: Harrogate

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Hours: 9:00am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role

SJC is working on behalf of a growing residential property team in Harrogate to recruit an organised, motivated, and detail-focused Conveyancing Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in residential conveyancing who enjoys supporting the full lifecycle of property transactions. You will assist with sale and purchase matters from instruction through to completion, helping to ensure a smooth and professional service for clients.

The role suits someone who is confident working in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to supporting both colleagues and clients.

Experience with leasehold transactions, management packs, and client communications is desirable, though applications are also welcomed from candidates looking to further develop their skills in these areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support fee-earning work under supervision, including file creation and administrative tasks
  • Prepare client care correspondence and complete client questionnaires
  • Deal with routine client enquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Collate matter start and completion data accurately
  • Provide support to fee earners and assist during absences where required (escalating urgent matters appropriately)
  • Ensure matters are progressed efficiently in line with set procedures and quality standards
  • Keep clients updated on progress and costs
  • Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of documentation and information
  • Comply with relevant professional and regulatory standards
  • Support marketing, promotion, and development activities where required
  • Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and external parties
