A long-established and growing workplace supplies business is seeking a Finance Manager to lead its finance function and support the next stage of commercial growth. Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:
  • Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the finance function
  • Overseeing all purchase ledger activities, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time
  • Managing the sales ledger function and ensuring effective billing and cash collection processes are maintained
  • Leading credit control activities to minimise aged debt and improve cash recovery performance
  • Monitoring and managing company cashflow, providing accurate forecasts and recommendations to support business planning
  • Producing accurate and timely monthly management accounts and quarterly financial reporting
  • Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements
  • Monitoring overhead expenditure and providing analysis to support cost control initiatives
  • Supervising bank reconciliations and maintaining oversight of all company banking activities
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for finance-related queries across the organisation through regular “accounts surgery” support
  • Managing relationships with suppliers and overseeing supplier account administration
  • Supervising company credit card administration and ensuring expenditure is accurately recorded and controlled
  • Overseeing customer account management and supporting the resolution of account-related issues
  • Managing and monitoring finance-related inboxes to ensure queries are handled efficiently and professionally
  • Liaising with external payroll providers to oversee salary processing and ensure payroll information is communicated accurately
  • Identifying opportunities to improve, streamline and automate financial processes to increase efficiency and scalability.

What You Will Need To Apply:
  • Previous experience in a senior finance or accounts management position
  • Strong knowledge of purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control and cashflow management
  • Experience producing management accounts and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of VAT regulations and preparation of VAT returns
  • Excellent understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and accounting processes
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence analysing financial data
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across all areas of the business
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring finance team members would be advantageous
  • A recognised accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) would be beneficial but is not essential depending on experience
