Test Strategy Consultant (Contract)

Remote (occasional travel to Manchester)
£500-£600 per day - inside IR35
3-month initial contract

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Test Strategy Consultant to support a transformation programme by defining a consistent and scalable approach to testing across multiple services.

This role is purely strategic and advisory - focused on assessing current practices, identifying gaps, and recommending a clear path forward. You won't be expected to execute testing or build automation frameworks.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assess the current testing landscape across services and platforms
• Conduct test maturity and capability assessments
• Identify gaps, risks, and inconsistencies in existing approaches
• Define a target testing strategy and operating model
• Develop standardised frameworks, governance, and best practices
• Provide clear, actionable recommendations to improve quality and consistency
• Engage with senior stakeholders to align on strategy and direction

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in test strategy / test architecture / consulting roles
• Strong track record of defining enterprise-level testing approaches
• Experience delivering test maturity assessments and gap analysis
• Ability to operate at a strategic, organisation-wide level
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Comfortable working in a non-hands-on, advisory capacity
