Alternative Provision Tutor

About the Role


We are seeking passionate and dedicated Alternative Provision Tutors to support young people across Bournemouth and Dorset who are currently outside of mainstream education. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised 1:1 or small group tuition to students with a range of additional needs, including SEMH, SEN, anxiety, behavioural challenges, and those at risk of exclusion.

Tutors will work in community settings, schools, learning centres, or students’ homes to help learners re-engage with education, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes.


Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, tailored lessons in core subjects or vocational areas
  • Support students with varying educational and emotional needs
  • Plan sessions based on individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes where applicable
  • Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, and schools
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback and reports
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and student engagement at all times
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people in education, tutoring, youth work, SEN, or alternative provision settings
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learning styles
  • Relevant teaching qualification, degree, or tutoring experience preferred
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle desirable
