We are looking for a Regulatory Controller Trade Effluent to play a key role in the control monitoring and regulation of trade effluent discharges across the North West. This is a field-based role supported by a company provided vehicle, enabling you to carry out site visits inspections and investigations effectively.
In this role you will be instrumental in protecting our wastewater network through robust regulatory control and close engagement with non household customers, ensuring discharges remain safe compliant and environmentally responsible. You will operate in a highly customer facing environment, communicating regularly with a wide range of sites and site contacts, building strong professional relationships while maintaining a clear regulatory and policy driven approach.
You will join a friendly professional and highly motivated Trade Effluent team where collaboration technical expertise and a shared sense of purpose underpin everything we do. The team is highly experienced and supportive, providing a strong knowledge base that you can learn from, draw on for advice and contribute to as you develop in the role.
About The RoleThis role focuses on the control and monitoring of trade effluent discharges into sewers and wastewater treatment works, while providing accurate reliable data to support the recovery of wholesale treatment costs.
You will report directly to the RCTE Lead for your area and work as part of the Lancashire and Cumbria team, while also supporting and collaborating with wider RCTE teams across other regions when required. You will manage your own dedicated portfolio of non-household customers and will be trusted to plan and prioritise your workload, applying sound regulatory judgement across a varied and dynamic caseload.
The role is well suited to someone who is comfortable working independently and managing their own site activity, while also valuing teamwork, collaboration and shared learning. At times you will be required to remain calm under pressure, assess situations quickly and develop clear practical action plans in response to incidents or compliance risks.
This is an opportunity to become part of a friendly professional and highly motivated Trade Effluent team that values collaboration competence and doing the right thing. You will take ownership of your own portfolio of traders, working closely with non-household customers to drive compliance and support the achievement of key market performance targets.
The role offers flexibility in how and where you work, allowing you to balance site visits investigations and relationship building with efficient remote portfolio management. You will play a vital role in protecting wastewater treatment infrastructure, safeguarding the environment and promoting a healthier greener North West. There is also the opportunity to be directly involved in incident response, where your actions can make a tangible difference and contribute to effective enforcement outcomes when required.
Benefits
If you are motivated by regulation environmental protection and meaningful impact and you are ready to take ownership in a highly trusted customer facing role we would love to hear from you.
