Accountant

Location: Remote (applicants must be based in South Wales)
Salary: £35,000 - £42,000 FTE (pro rata)
Hours: 2 days per week (flexible working pattern)

We are looking for a skilled and reliable accountant to support the financial operations.

The Role
We are seeking a part-time Charity Accountant to take ownership of our financial management and reporting. This is a fully remote role, but you must be based in South Wales to maintain an understanding of the local context and attend occasional in-person meetings if required.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Oversee budgets and provide financial insights to support decision-making
• Manage payroll, VAT returns, and statutory submissions
• Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors
• Ensure compliance with charity and financial regulations
• Assist with funding reports and grant tracking
• Support the transition from QuickBooks to Xero, including data migration and system setup

About You

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience
• Experience working in the charity or non-profit sector (desirable)
• Strong knowledge of accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Xero (experience with system migrations is highly desirable)
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Strong communication skills, able to explain financial information clearly
