Proposals Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Proposals Engineer to join a well-established engineering business supplying specialist solutions to a wide range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, commercial construction, and manufacturing.

This role is ideal for a technically minded professional with experience in applications engineering, proposals, estimating, or technical sales within a mechanical engineering sector.

The Role

This is predominantly an office-based technical role focused on managing enquiries through to quotation stage. You will take ownership of the enquiry-to-quote process, working closely with engineering, design, and supply chain teams to develop compliant and commercially competitive solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing inbound enquiries from receipt through to quotation
• Reviewing customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements
• Producing technical proposals, estimates, and quotations
• Carrying out acoustic and ventilation calculations
• Developing initial concepts, hand sketches, and solution designs
• Collaborating with internal departments to deliver tailored solutions
• Building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers
• Maintaining accurate records using Salesforce CRM

The Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar applications, proposals, estimating, or technical sales role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

You will ideally have:

• Experience preparing technical quotations and proposals
• A background in engineering or manufacturing
• Strong technical and commercial awareness
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to interpret technical specifications and drawings
• Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce
