Assistant Accountant

Our client is a well-regarded business operating within the service industry with their UK Head Office ideally situated in Leicestershire.


As a result of growth, Nenebrook (NRG) have been engaged to assist with the recruitment of a Assistant Accountant to join the business on a full time permanent basis.


Overview

This varied role supports the processing of business and client account transactions, preparation of monthly accounts, monthly payrolls, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting. 


Accounts preparation

Process and reconcile commission statements

Reconcile debtors’ control accounts and associated balances

Reconcile creditors’ control accounts and associated balances

Prepare and post prepayments and accruals

Complete fixed asset reconciliations

Prepare draft quarterly VAT returns for VAT-registered entities

Complete full intercompany reconciliations

Post journal entries accurately and in a timely manner


Transaction processing

Process sales invoices in Sage and maintain supporting Excel records

Process purchase invoices and arrange supplier payments

Perform bank, purchase ledger, and sales ledger reconciliations

Raise and bank cheques where required

Post daily client account transactions into Sage

Maintain accurate financial records in Sage and Excel

Facilitate movement of client monies in line with SSAS, SIPP and investment compliance requirements

Manage fee collections

Handle petty cash

Maintain filing systems and support general administrative finance tasks


Payroll

Prepare pension and partner payrolls

Process PAYE for pensions and partners

Complete payroll year-end procedures and associated annual tasks


Reporting


Produce sales reports

Contribute to preparation of the monthly business pack


Additional duties  


Support annual business audits as required

Assist with finance-related projects or tasks at the request of the Finance Director.


The ideal will be working towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA if not already qualified and ideally have at least 3-5 years prior experience gained within a similar position (likely to be Accounts Assistant / Assistant Accountant).


Those that are QBE but demonstrate suitable experience will be considered.


Previous experience of using Sage would be a major advantage however is not essential


In return this position is offering a basic salary of up to £35,000 + excellent benefits
