We are supporting a well-established accountancy practice in Stoke-on-Trent that is looking to appoint a Semi-Senior Accountant on a fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practice experience to take on a varied role, supporting a portfolio of clients across accounts preparation, tax, and day-to-day advisory.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for a range of clients including SMEs, sole traders, and partnerships
• Assist with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
• Support the completion of VAT returns and corporation tax computations
• Liaise directly with clients to request information and resolve queries
• Assist senior members of the team with more complex accounting assignments
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in line with compliance requirements
• Support junior staff where required and contribute to team workflow
• Ensure deadlines are met across multiple client engagements

Key Requirements

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment
• Strong understanding of accounts preparation and basic tax principles
• AAT qualified or ACCA/ACA part-qualified (or equivalent)
• Experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar
• Good working knowledge of Excel
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Confident communication skills with the ability to build client relationships
