Reed Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a leading global logistics and supply chain organisation to recruit an experienced Customs Team Leader for their Felixstowe operation.

The Role

As Customs Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and development of a customs operations team, ensuring all import and export declarations are completed accurately, compliantly, and on time. You will play a key role in supporting operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of customs professionals
  • Oversee daily customs clearance activity, ensuring compliance with UK customs regulations
  • Act as an escalation point for complex customs queries and issues
  • Monitor team performance against KPIs and service level agreements
  • Support training, coaching, and ongoing development within the team
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external agencies as required
  • Ensure processes are followed and continuously improved

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience leading or supervising a team within a customs or freight environment
  • Working knowledge of customs procedures (import/export), at any level
  • A strong understanding of compliance and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a busy operational setting
  • A recognised customs qualification (or willingness to work towards further development)

Strong leadership experience is essential – hands-on customs expertise combined with the ability to manage and motivate people is key.
