Manchester City Council are seeking a Business Support Lead who will provide high-quality, customer-focused, and flexible business support, directly contributing to the achievement of their objectives. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality services through effective business support initiatives and performance management.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Define, lead, and ensure the implementation of effective business support initiatives that align with our service delivery goals.
  • Manage and oversee business support activities, which may include staff management, financial oversight, or physical resource management.
  • Provide professional, customer-focused, and confidential secretarial support to senior management when required.
  • Lead the adoption of best practices in business support activities, continuously improving performance and customer service standards.
  • Undertake service planning reviews aligned with business plan objectives, developing, implementing, and reviewing key business support processes and procedures.
  • Analyze feedback and performance data, developing recommendations for improvements that support service priorities and objectives.
  • Monitor customer care performance against key performance indicators, produce reports, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and improve management information systems to enhance efficiency and add value.
  • Establish effective partnerships and collaborative working arrangements to implement transformational changes and identify council-wide improvements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in business support management, including staff and resource management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret feedback and performance data.
  • Experience in developing and implementing business support processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams, including performance management and appraisals.
