You will be working in the infrastructure OU and Energy sector based in Leavesden, Hertfordshire in where we are responsible for bringing design, build and refurbishment excellence to complex civil engineering projects nationwide - combining technical expertise with a passion for creating lasting value for people and places.

We are currently looking for a Senior Design Manager who will be accountable for the design process for the project.

As the Senior Design Manager, you will:

  • Management of the design process for the project from preparation of the design scope with our design partner.
  • Manage your team and or designers to ensure design teams' activities are planned and programmed collaboratively so they integrate with our project's programmed activities.
  • Ensure design reviews are organised, planned and in the programme, ensuring information is collated and allocated correctly, short term planning, issues logs, reviewing designs, reviewing programme submissions, applications, change requests and oversight of design information requests.
  • Setup and maintain the design management plans, tools and processes for the Project.
  • Lead the interface management activities for the design phase both internally and externally to the Skanska Contract.
  • Support the commercial team in the commercial management of design sub-contracts and work with the Construction Lead to deliver a design aligned with the Construction requirements.
  • Produce monthly metrics with a narrative covering the design programme, design commercial performance and design quality.

We are looking for:

  • Professionally qualified from a relevant accredited body e.g. Institution of Civil Engineers, Royal Institute of British Architects, Chartered Institute of Building, Engineering Council, Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation, The Institution of Engineering and Technology.
  • Relevant degree (or similar) in the technical discipline being managed e.g. Civil engineering, Building, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
  • CSCS Card in suitable category (e.g. Professionally qualified Person or Manager).
  • Experience of managing direct reports of three or more and in setting goals and development plans for them.
  • Experience of managing the design of projects and disciplines of a similar scale and complexity.
