Overview

A growing UK automotive aftersales operation is strengthening its parts function to support an expanding dealer network. The role sits within a lean, hands-on spare parts team and plays a key part in maintaining supply stability, supporting dealer operations, and improving visibility across parts availability and backorders.

This position suits someone with solid parts or supply chain experience who is comfortable taking ownership, working independently, and supporting dealers in a fast-evolving operational environment.

Role Purpose

To support the day-to-day performance of the parts operation, with a particular focus on dealer support, backorder control, and clear operational communication. The role contributes directly to improved dealer confidence, reduced disruption at workshop level, and stronger aftersales service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Dealer Support & Operations

  • Act as a primary contact point for dealer parts enquiries
  • Take ownership of issues through to resolution
  • Coordinate with technical, logistics, warranty, finance, and supply teams

Backorder & Supply Coordination

  • Monitor daily backorder position and ageing lines
  • Follow up overdue and high-impact supply items
  • Support prioritisation of vehicle-off-road and customer-critical cases
  • Communicate realistic delivery timing and risks

Control & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate order and stock data
  • Produce visibility and exception reporting
  • Support process and communication improvements

Technical Requirements

Essential:

  • Parts or supply chain experience
  • Stock control fundamentals
  • Strong Excel capability
  • High attention to detail
  • Clear, professional communication

Trainable:

  • SAP / ERP systems
  • Product and vehicle knowledge
  • Advanced planning methods

Working Environment

  • Reports to Spare Parts Manager
  • Small aftersales / parts team
  • Medium–high autonomy
  • Strong dealer interaction

What Success Looks Like

6–12 months:

  • Improved dealer and customer satisfaction
  • Reduced backorders and ageing
  • Stronger communication and reporting visibility

Immediate focus:

  • Supporting dealer operations
  • Improving communication and core processes
