SME Finance Manager

We are working with a growing SME seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to lead a small, collaborative finance team. This is a broad and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of finance and adding real value to the business.

This opportunity is well suited to a qualified-by-experience (QBE) candidate; a formal accounting qualification is not essential.

The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate reporting and effective financial controls across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the general ledger and overseeing all core accounting processes
• Producing monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Supervising and supporting a small finance team
• Overseeing accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processes
• Leading month-end and year-end close activities
• Managing cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
• Supporting audit processes and liaising with external accountants
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and controls
• Providing financial insight to support business decision-making

About You

• Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or Senior Finance role within an SME environment
• Strong working knowledge of end-to-end finance processes, including general ledger management
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, operational role
• Experience managing or mentoring a small team
• Strong Excel and financial systems experience
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Confident communicator, able to work with stakeholders across the business
