Maintenance Manager

An established manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the site maintenance function on a 6 month interim contract. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for equipment reliability, compliance, CAPEX delivery, and facilities management.

This is an immediate start role which would suit someone looking to hit the ground running and make a real impact from day one.




Key Responsibilities...Leadership & People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians
  • Manage daily workload planning, performance, training, and competency development
  • Build a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Support recruitment, succession planning, and skills development within the maintenance team
Preventive & Reactive Maintenance
  • Full ownership of the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) strategy
  • Prioritise and manage breakdown response to minimise downtime and production impact
  • Analyse equipment performance, reliability, and failure trends to drive improvements
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting of maintenance activities via a CMMS (e.g. SAP, Maximo, Infor or similar)
CAPEX & Engineering Projects
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of capital and engineering projects
  • Prepare business cases, budgets, project plans, and risk assessments
  • Manage contractors, OEMs, and suppliers to ensure safe and timely project execution
  • Ensure all engineering upgrades comply with relevant standards and regulatory requirements
Facilities Management
  • Oversight of building services including HVAC, utilities, compressed air, fire systems, and site infrastructure
  • Ensure all statutory inspections, testing, and certifications are completed on schedule
  • Manage external facilities and service contractors
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company procedures and legal requirements
  • Lead risk assessments, permits to work, and method statements
  • Support internal and external audits, closing out actions effectively
  • Act as a visible safety leader across the site
Financial & Operational Control
  • Manage the site maintenance budget (OPEX and CAPEX)
  • Control critical spare parts and consumables stock
  • Produce and report on maintenance KPIs such as PPM compliance, MTBF, and MTTR

What you'll bring...
Essential Requirements
  • Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering) or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance leadership role within manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Proven experience managing mechanical and electrical maintenance teams
  • Strong background delivering CAPEX projects and engineering upgrades
  • Excellent understanding of PPM, reliability-centred maintenance, and CMMS systems
  • Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work
  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers
Desirable
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g. pharma, food, medical devices, chemicals, heavy industry)
  • Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Formal project management training or certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or similar)
  • Experience with energy efficiency or sustainability initiatives
  • Electrical or mechanical trade background
