Job Title: Tax Senior (Compliance & Advisory)

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid working available)
Salary: £38,000 - £46,000

A well-established professional services firm is looking to recruit a Tax Senior to join its growing tax function. This role focuses on delivering high-quality tax compliance services while also gaining exposure to advisory and consultancy work across a varied client base.

The successful Tax Senior will support the wider tax team in managing a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and contributing to both compliance and planning work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients and act as the main point of contact for queries
• Prepare and review self-assessment tax returns, associated claims, and related computations
• Assist with HMRC correspondence including enquiries, penalties, and information requests
• Support on day-to-day tax matters such as PAYE coding, benefits, and other compliance queries
• Assist managers and senior team members with tax planning and advisory work for individuals
• Prepare relevant regulatory certificates and support ongoing client queries
• Review work produced by junior team members and provide technical guidance
• Contribute to coaching and mentoring within the team
• Support the delivery of high-quality client service across the portfolio
• Encourage collaboration, inclusion, and knowledge sharing within the team

About You

• ATT qualified or qualified by experience
• Strong experience in personal tax compliance within a professional services environment
• Good understanding of UK tax principles and compliance processes
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking
• Able to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working with tax software and digital systems
• Proactive, organised, and willing to share ideas and improve processes
