Role Overview

Manage a varied portfolio of private clients including high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates, delivering high-quality personal tax compliance and advisory services. You will act as the main client contact, provide technical guidance, manage deadlines, and support junior team development. This is a key role offering strong client exposure, responsibility, and progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Portfolio Management

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients (HNWIs, directors, OMBs, trusts, estates)

• Act as main contact for clients, trustees, and advisers

• Build strong relationships and deliver high service standards

• Identify tax planning opportunities and support advisory projects

Personal Tax, Trusts & Estates Compliance

• Oversee preparation and review of personal, trust, and estate tax returns

• Manage compliance including income tax, CGT, and IHT reporting

• Ensure deadlines are met and work delivered efficiently and within budget

• Handle HMRC correspondence, including registrations, disclosures, and enquiries

Advisory & Technical

• Provide input across personal tax, trusts, estates, CGT, IHT, and residency matters

• Support trust and succession planning work

• Research legislation and HMRC guidance

• Keep up to date with tax changes and communicate impacts

Team Leadership

• Supervise, mentor, and review work of junior staff

• Provide clear feedback and support development

• Assist with workflow planning and work allocation

Compliance & Quality

• Ensure adherence to professional standards and firm procedures

• Support quality initiatives and internal/external reviews

• Maintain accurate records and documentation

Person Specification

Essential

• CTA qualified, or ACA/ACCA with strong personal tax and trust experience

• UK practice background

• Strong knowledge of personal tax, trusts, and estates

• Experience managing client portfolios

• Strong organisational and communication skills

Desirable

• HNWI experience

• Trusts and estates expertise (including IHT)

• Team supervision experience

• Familiarity with software (CCH, IRIS, TaxCalc or similar)
