Stores/Infection Control Operative

• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2 months)
• Pay Rate: £13.05 per hour (PAYE)

Wakefield Council are looking for a dedicated Stores/Infection Control Operative to join the Wakefield Equipment Service team. This role is crucial in supporting the service demands by providing an effective equipment decontamination service and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Infection Control policies.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Provide effective cleaning and decontamination services for equipment, ensuring strict adherence to Health and Safety and Infection Control policies.
• Undertake general warehouse and stock duties as directed, ensuring tidy stock areas, adequate stock levels, and proper labelling and barcoding of equipment.
• Assist with deliveries from suppliers and contractors.
• Clean items according to manufacturers' guidelines and local Infection Control Policies.
• Maintain a segregated and quarantined area for dirty equipment to reduce cross-contamination.
• Operate large industrial washing appliances for equipment decontamination, maintain these appliances, and report any faults.
• Liaise with Engineering staff to service items held in cleaning before assembly for further deliveries.
• Highlight unserviceable equipment or items beyond repair before disposal to maintain correct stock levels and generate new orders.
• Utilise IT hardware and systems to ensure accurate recording of equipment in stores or under infection control.
• Wear appropriate PPE in line with Infection Control policy and COSHH safety data sheets and risk assessments.
• Pick stock from stores to fulfil daily orders and assist in promoting a positive Health and Safety culture.
• Provide support in other areas of the service during times of increased pressure and demand as directed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in a similar role involving equipment decontamination and warehouse duties is preferred.
• Familiarity with Health & Safety and Infection Control policies.
• Competence in using IT systems for inventory and stock management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
