Year 1 Teaching Assistant

Reed Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 class in a friendly and inclusive primary school in Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurturing and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting children at the start of their educational journey.

The Role:

• Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities
• Working with small groups and individual pupils to support learning
• Assisting with phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons
• Helping to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
• Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have experience working with children in a primary school setting
• Have a good understanding of phonics (e.g. Read Write Inc or similar programmes)
• Be patient, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young learners
• Be a strong team player with good communication skills
• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
