An established multi-office law firm is looking to recruit a Care Paralegal to join its busy Bedford office. This role would suit a motivated and compassionate individual with experience or a strong interest in public family law and care proceedings.
Working closely with experienced solicitors, the successful candidate will assist on a varied caseload involving Children Act matters and provide both legal and administrative support within a supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities
Assisting solicitors with care proceedings and public family law matters
Preparing legal documents, witness statements, and correspondence
Attending client meetings and taking instructions
Liaising with courts, counsel, local authorities, and external agencies
Managing file administration and ensuring compliance requirements are met
Assisting with legal aid applications and billing processes
Providing high levels of client care and support throughout proceedings
Supporting the wider team with administrative and legal tasks where required
About You
Previous paralegal experience within Care, Family, or Public Law desirable
Knowledge of legal aid funding processes advantageous
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational ability
Ability to work proactively and manage competing priorities
Professional, reliable, and client-focused approach
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
