Accounts Assistant - Legal

I am currently recruiting for an experienced Legal Accounts Assistant to join a friendly Accounts team of 3 supporting the day to day running of a busy solicitor practice. As the Legal Accounts Assistant you will be working to a high level of accuracy, often under pressure and/or time constraints.

You’ll be responsible for a broad range of standard legal accounts tasks, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and working collaboratively with the rest of the accounts team.


Legal Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Processing entries into the firm’s accounts systems
  • Reconciling client and office bank accounts daily
  • Checking and processing bills
  • Liaising with lawyers and to ensure accurate financial transactions
  • Managing client payments for invoices and resolving related queries
  • Supporting colleagues within the accounts team and providing cover during absences
  • Ability to prioritise work due to the ever-changing work flows. This can, at times, be a demanding and fast paced roll.


Qualifications and personal attributes:

  • Essential – minimum 3+ years in an Accounts role (in a legal field desirable)
  • AAT Accounting Level 4 or equivalent
  • 2 x A Level or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject
  • Confident in using Office applications; Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Strong organisational skills and communication
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy


Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm 5 days a week with one hour for lunch, fully office based role. Please apply today, this role is offering excellent benefits, competitive salary and career development and progression.
