Strategic Planner

£40 – £45 per hour (Umbrella)

 

Initial 2-month contract

 

Hybrid working – Union Street, London (SE1 0LL)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Planner to join a busy and high-profile public sector planning team at the heart of London’s strategic planning agenda.

You will support the development, monitoring and review of London-wide spatial policy, including contributing to the London Plan, Opportunity Area Planning Frameworks (OAPFs), and advising on developments of potential strategic importance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and review of strategic spatial planning policy, including housing, infrastructure, environment and transport
• Assist in processing planning applications of strategic importance and support S106 negotiations
• Provide planning advice on Local Plans, SPDs and development proposals
• Contribute to the preparation of Opportunity Area Planning Frameworks and related studies
• Support briefing and report writing for senior stakeholders and elected members
• Engage with London boroughs, consultants and other external stakeholders

About You

• Degree (or postgraduate qualification) in planning or a related discipline
• Eligibility for RTPI membership
• Good understanding of UK planning policy and strategic planning processes
• Experience in planning policy, development management or regeneration projects
• Strong written, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
