Assistant Financial Accountant

Location: Oxford – Hybrid

Reporting to: Group Accounting Manager

The Role

This role sits within the Group Finance team and is a key position within the Central Accounting & Reporting function. Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager, the role plays a critical part in delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality financial reporting across the group.

You will be responsible for a range of core reporting activities including cash reporting, sales reporting, statutory accounts, and monthly submissions to the French parent company, as well as supporting the team during the bi-annual budgeting process. The role involves close collaboration with finance and non-finance stakeholders and includes ownership of key elements of the month-end process.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce weekly Group sales reporting
• Prepare sundry invoices and raise purchase orders as required
• Produce Group cash reporting
• Prepare annual statutory accounts in line with regulatory and submission deadlines
• Prepare and manage monthly submissions to the French parent company for selected group divisions
• Produce the monthly Group management pack
• Perform trade debtor reconciliations
• Maintain locally held group company secretarial records and records at Companies House
• Collate and prepare data for reporting to the Office for National Statistics
• Support the bi-annual budgeting process
• Perform month-end processes for commissions
• Perform reconciliations and postings for various group and external parties
• Perform royalty postings and reconciliations for specific divisions
• Support ad-hoc finance tasks and projects as required by management

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong Excel skills
• Ability to understand, analyse, and clearly explain complex financial concepts
• Proven ability to deliver accurate work to tight deadlines
• Inquisitive mindset with a willingness to learn and develop an understanding of the wider business

Qualifications

• Studying towards a professional accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA)
