Financial Controller

Full-time | North London

A well-established and growing international business operating within the manufacturing and technology sector is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance team.

The organisation operates within a specialist technical environment and continues to invest in growth, operational improvement and finance transformation initiatives. This position will play a key role in supporting the finance function and ensuring robust financial reporting, controls and commercial analysis across the business.

This opportunity would suit a hands-on and commercially aware finance professional looking to join a fast-paced and evolving business environment with broad exposure across operational and strategic finance activities.

The Role:

Reporting into senior finance leadership, the Financial Controller will oversee core financial control and management accounting responsibilities while supporting wider financial planning, reporting and process improvement activities across the organisation.

The role will work closely with both finance and operational teams to ensure accurate reporting, improve financial visibility and support business decision-making.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, technology or other commercially driven environments.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Producing monthly management accounts, including commentary and variance analysis

• Managing accruals, prepayments, journals and general ledger activity

• Performing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining financial accuracy

• Maintaining and improving financial controls, processes and procedures

• Supporting and overseeing day-to-day transactional finance activities

• Delivering financial planning and analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making

• Producing cash flow forecasting and financial reporting models

• Analysing costs, margins and operational performance data

• Supporting reporting and analysis for senior leadership

• Assisting with finance systems integration and reporting improvements

• Supporting finance process optimisation and automation initiatives

• Contributing to the development of scalable finance procedures within a growing business

• Assisting with ad hoc reporting, analysis and project work

• Working cross-functionally to improve financial visibility and operational efficiency

About You:

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

• Previous experience within a Financial Controller or senior finance position

• Strong management accounting and balance sheet control experience

• Experience within manufacturing, engineering or technical sectors would be advantageous

• Experience working within a fast-paced or growing business environment preferred

• Strong knowledge of accounting systems and ERP platforms

• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently

• Commercial awareness and ability to provide meaningful financial insight

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• A proactive and process-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement
