Job Title: Bookkeeper
Location: Altrincham
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Working Pattern: Fully office-based during probation, hybrid afterwards
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bookkeeper to join a well-established organisation based near Altrincham. This role sits within a busy and supportive accounts team and will involve a broad range of accounting duties, including preparing management accounts, VAT returns, bank reconciliations, supplier payments, and financial reporting.
The Role:
You will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting and accounting services across a varied portfolio of accounts. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, detail-focused, and confident managing multiple priorities in a busy finance environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain nominal ledgers and complete regular bank reconciliations.
- Post management fees, transfers, VAT entries, ancillary income, and related accounting adjustments.
- Process supplier invoices and prepare payment runs.
- Prepare VAT returns for review prior to submission to HMRC.
- Prepare monthly management accounts for review by Financial Controller
- Maintain ledgers, bank accounts, reconciliations, and payment processing across multiple entities.
- Provide period-end reports and supporting information.
- Undertake regular reconciliations and resolve any outstanding items.
- Review expenditure and resolve queries with internal teams.
- Prepare closing accounts and handover information where required.
- Carry out invoicing, including charges and fees as required.
- Support the wider accounts team with finance-related queries.
About You:
- QBE or AAT finance professional or equivalent
- Previous experience preparing management accounts, nominal ledgers, bank reconciliation, accruals and prepayments.
- Good understanding of VAT and supplier payment processes.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively under pressure.
- Professional communication skills, with strong attention to detail
- Organised, proactive, and comfortable working in a busy finance team.
