HGV Class 1 Drivers Required – Summer Peak Work (Guaranteed Hours)

WPRG are currently recruiting experienced Class 1 Drivers for ongoing summer peak work delivering to convenience stores. This is a hands-on role involving tail lift deliveries, roll cages, and handball. Please note, this is not a trunking role.

Job Details

• Store deliveries using tail lift and cages
• Manual handling involved on every shift
• Start times between 04:00 – 10:00 (confirmed time is given day before when planning is complete)
• Fixed rota (see below)
• Guaranteed minimum 48 hours per week

Shift Pattern

Week 1:

Monday – Friday

Week 2:

Tuesday – Saturday

Pay Rates

HGV Class 1:

• £22.50 per hour (Days)
• £29 per hour (after 48 hours)
• £30 per hour (Bank Holidays, minimum 9 hours)

This will be fixed guaranteed work for the entire period, minimum 48 hours pay per week.

Important Commitment

Drivers must be available to work consistently throughout the entire summer period, with no holidays or time off, up to 29th August 2026.

Training

• 5-day paid training (Monday to Friday)
• Scheduled week commencing 1st June

Assessment Process

All drivers must complete:

• Drug & Alcohol Test
• Theory Test
• Driving Assessment (including yard manoeuvres)

Assessments taking place on Thursday 07/05 and Friday 08/05.

Requirements

• Minimum age: 21 years
• Minimum 6 months experience on licence (similar work preferred)
• Maximum 6 penalty points (speeding/traffic only – anything over 3 to be reviewed
• Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category CE) Licence
• Valid CPC Card and Digital Tachograph
• Must pass licence check system (cleaner licences preferred)
• Good level of English and professional attitude
