Lead Analyst - Pricing & Promotions

We're working with a large UK retailer who are building out a new centralised analytics capability focused on pricing, promotions, and commercial optimisation. This is a newly created team with strong senior sponsorship and increasing investment in data-led decision making and AI-enabled pricing strategy.
The Opportunity This is a high-visibility analytics role sitting close to commercial leadership, supporting pricing decisions across a large and complex retail estate. The team is responsible for developing more advanced, data-driven approaches to pricing and promotional effectiveness.
You'll work across both strategic initiatives and fast-turnaround commercial analysis, helping shape how pricing is set, measured, and optimised.
Key Responsibilities - Analyse competitor pricing activity and support commercial recommendations
- Deliver insight and performance analysis across pricing and promotional activity
- Support pricing optimisation and test-and-learn initiatives
- Build analytical models (e.g. regression, elasticity, incrementality measurement)
- Translate commercial questions into structured analytical outputs
- Respond to ad hoc requests from senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
- Contribute to wider initiatives around AI and advanced pricing capability
- Use SQL (essential) and Python for data analysis and insight generation
- Line management responsibility for a junior/graduate analyst
Focus Areas / Projects - Development of a more advanced, AI-enabled pricing capability
- Evaluation of promotional mechanics and pricing effectiveness in-store
- Assessment of customer impact and incrementality of key pricing strategies
- Ongoing optimisation of pricing decisions across the business
Candidate Profile - 3+ years' experience in a commercial analytics role
- Strong SQL skills (essential)
- Working knowledge of Python for analysis/model development
- Experience in pricing, promotions, elasticity, or commercial optimisation preferred
- Strong stakeholder management experience, including senior stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, reactive environment
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to link data to business outcomes
