Finance Manager – Logistics Sector - Office Based 

Felixstowe, Suffolk

£45,000 – £50,000 + Bonus

Mon–Fri (09:00–17:30)


An established, family-run logistics business with over 60 years of heritage is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its Felixstowe head office. Operating across global freight, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution, the business offers a stable environment with strong staff retention and a collaborative culture.

This role has become available due to a planned retirement after 30+ years of service, offering a rare opportunity to step into a well-established position with full ownership of the finance function.

The Role

Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will take responsibility for the end-to-end finance function, managing a small team and ensuring accurate financial control across the business.


Key responsibilities include:


  • Full ownership of accounts through to trial balance
  • Month-end processes (Pegasus / MultiFreight systems)
  • Preparation of management accounts and reporting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and troubleshooting variances
  • Bank reconciliations and cash flow management
  • Control of company bank balances and placement of funds
  • Management of monthly payroll (approx. 50 employees) including year-end
  • Overseeing overseas debtors and credit control
  • Managing and supporting a team of 3 credit controllers
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • Job-level profitability checks and financial accuracy
  • Overseeing and controlling payment runs

About You

  • Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager / Senior Accountant role
  • Experience within logistics, freight forwarding, or a related industry (highly desirable)
  • Strong systems experience 
  • Solid Excel skills 
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with manual processes
  • Strong team management experience
  • Commercially aware with the ability to understand operations before driving change
