Pay Rate: £21.41 per hour PAYE / £28.19 per hour Umbrella

Overview

We are recruiting an experienced Lettings Officer to support housing assessment and allocations functions within a busy social housing environment. The role focuses on assessing housing applications, managing lettings activity, and delivering a high-quality service to residents in line with housing legislation and local policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess housing applications in line with relevant housing legislation and allocation policies

• Manage choice-based lettings processes, including advertising properties and shortlisting applicants

• Carry out housing needs assessments, verifications, and home visits where required

• Prepare and issue decision letters, advising applicants of outcomes and review rights

• Liaise with internal teams, external agencies, and partner organisations

• Provide clear advice to applicants regarding offers, refusals, and housing options

• Maintain accurate records across housing and lettings IT systems

• Handle enquiries, complaints, and correspondence professionally and efficiently

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in social housing lettings or housing needs assessment

• Strong knowledge of housing legislation and allocations procedures

• Experience working with choice-based lettings systems (e.g. Locata)

• Ability to manage a varied caseload in a pressurised environment

• Excellent communication and customer service skills

• Confident IT skills across housing management systems
