Grafton Banks Finance are working with commercial SME business based in central Brighton, East Sussex to recruit a Finance Officer on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting into the Finance Manager you will be responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the businesses financial processes. This will include ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, supporting day-to-day finance operations, and maintaining confident relationships both internally and externally around the business. This permanent job offers hybrid working. 3 days in office and 2 from home.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Payroll Administration
  • Prepare and process monthly payrolls for all employees in conjunction with the external payroll bureau.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, including new starters, leavers, and contract changes.
  • Ensure accuracy of timesheets, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Administer statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP).
  • Manage pension scheme administration
  • Handle payroll queries from employees in a professional and timely manner.
  • Submit Real Time Information (RTI) reports to HMRC.
  • Accounts Payable & Finance Administration
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with organisational policies.
  • Process supplier invoices, purchase orders, and staff expenses.
  • Prepare and reconcile sales invoices and customer statements.
  • Assist with credit control and chase outstanding payments when required.
  • Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Support month-end tasks, including journals, accruals, and reporting.
  • Liaise with external management accountants and external auditors as needed.
  • Prepare payment runs for suppliers and staff expenses.

Key Skills required for the role:

  • AAT studying towards or qualified
  • Practical experience of working within a varied finance role
  • Payroll Administration experience
  • Finance Support experience
  • XERO, Excel
  • Excellent communication skills

This is a full-time permanent job offering hybrid working 3 days in office and 2 from home. For your experience you will be rewarded with a competitive salary and benefits package. Candidates available up to 1 months’ notice will take priority.
