About the Role

We are a leading service provider supporting the oil & gas, power generation, and renewable energy sectors, operating from a recently upgraded Centre of Excellence in Ellon. Following significant investment in our facility, we are continuing to grow and are now looking for a mechanically minded Gas Compressor Technician to join our team.

This is a hands-on, workshop-based role, ideal for candidates who enjoy bench work, dismantling and rebuilding equipment, and working with precision engineering components. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for delivering high-quality overhaul and repair services on rotating equipment used in demanding industrial environments.

We welcome applicants from all mechanical backgrounds — whether you have experience in compressors, engines, pumps, gearboxes, automotive, marine, aerospace, or heavy industry — if you have strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy stripping and rebuilding machinery, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strip down, inspect, and rebuild gas compressors and their components in a workshop/bench environment
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs to a high standard
  • Perform precision fitting, assembly, and light machining work where required
  • Conduct functional and performance testing on overhauled equipment
  • Work closely with engineering and quality teams to ensure all builds meet specification
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with HSE standards

Requirements

  • Experience working on gas compressors or similar rotating equipment (e.g. pumps, motors, turbines)
  • Strong mechanical fitting, assembly, and fault-finding skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented approach
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices

What We’re Looking For

Strong mechanical experience — any industry considered (automotive, plant, forces, rail, manufacturing, etc.)

Confident in stripping, inspecting, and rebuilding mechanical equipment

Experience with rotating equipment (compressors, pumps, motors, engines, gearboxes) is desirable but not essential

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and manuals

High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship

Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well as part of a team

Good understanding of health and safety practices in a workshop environment

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • 33 days annual leave
  • Pension contribution
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Retail, lifestyle, and entertainment discounts
  • Car leasing scheme for you and your family
  • Long service recognition awards
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Free onsite parking with electric charging facilities
