A leading UK wholesale food distribution business is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to join its growing operation. The organisation supplies a diverse customer base including restaurant groups, airlines, cruise and travel providers, retail butchers, and national food businesses.
With a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and service, the company operates a busy chilled distribution depot running six days a week. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on and experienced warehouse professional to take ownership of operations, lead a large team, and drive continuous improvement within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include but will not be limited to:
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of a busy chilled warehouse depot, deputising for the Operations Manager when required
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of approximately 25–40 staff, ensuring high levels of performance, productivity, and engagement
  • Take responsibility for operational budgets and support cost-effective depot management
  • Monitor and drive depot performance, ensuring operational processes are efficient, safe, and aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures across all warehouse activities
  • Maintain high standards of site security and operational control at all times
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager, site leadership team, and wider UK locations to support consistent business performance
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and service levels
  • Support staff development, training, and motivation to maintain a high-performing operational team
  • Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to monitor stock, performance, and operational data
  • Analyse operational data to support decision-making and performance improvement
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and movement of perishable food products in a chilled environment
  • Maintain compliance with food safety standards and relevant industry regulations
  • Support HR processes including performance management, absence management, and team development initiatives
  • Ensure all operational activities meet customer expectations and quality standards
What you will need to Apply:
  • Proven experience in a Warehouse Manager or similar leadership role within logistics, distribution, or supply chain
  • Strong background working within an FMCG or chilled/perishable goods environment (desirable)
  • Experience managing and developing teams within a fast-paced warehouse operation
  • Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations within a warehouse setting
  • Experience handling perishable food products in a controlled environment
  • IT literate with the ability to interpret and analyse operational data effectively
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
  • Good understanding of HR processes including team management and performance development
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style with high standards of operational excellence
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure
