Payroll Team Lead

Luton (4 days office / 1 day WFH)

£45,000 - £50,000

Contract: Permanent

The Role

A senior payroll position supporting the leadership of a large, high-volume payroll function within a fast-growing, multi-site organisation.

You’ll oversee day-to-day payroll operations while playing a key role in a major system transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and oversee end-to-end payroll operations across a large workforce
• Supervise and guide payroll team members to ensure accuracy and deadlines are met
• Act as a key escalation point for complex payroll queries
• Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and internal controls
• Support payroll process improvements and operational efficiency
• Collaborate with stakeholders across HR, Finance, and external providers
• Contribute to a major payroll system implementation project

The Ideal Candidate

• Strong UK end-to-end payroll experience (high volume)
• Experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity (or ready to step up)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• Strong stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
• Keen interest in systems, transformation, and continuous improvement
