Caretaker - Secondary School

About the RoleWe are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Wakefield for a Caretaker to join their site team as soon as possible. This is a long-term sickness cover position, offering a supportive working environment.
The school is looking for someone reliable, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities

• Opening and locking up the school site
• Basic premises duties
• Setting up rooms for lessons and events
• Litter picking and general upkeep of outdoor areas
• Ensuring the school site remains clean, tidy, and safe
• Supporting the site team with day-to-day tasks

Please note: this role does not require extensive DIY or maintenance skills.
The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience in a caretaking or premises role (school experience desirable but not essential)
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Comfortable working on a shift pattern
• Strong awareness of health & safety
• Able to start immediately
• Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be happy to apply for one.
