Warehouse Operative (Counterbalance Forklift) – Temp to Perm

Location: Chelmsford
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
Pay Rate: £13.40 per hour (rising to £13.60 upon permanent contract)

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operative with a Counterbalance Forklift licence to join a busy and supportive team based in Chelmsford.

This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering long-term stability for the right candidate. You will be working across two warehouse buildings, supporting both goods in and goods out operations in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and marking off picking lists
• Regular use of a counterbalance forklift
• Locating stock using warehouse location codes
• Picking, packing, and palletising orders for dispatch
• Labelling products accurately
• Replenishing stock using a pump truck
• Manual handling of goods (lifting up to 25kg)
• Maintaining a clean and organised warehouse
• Unloading containers and stripping pallets
• Identifying and resolving stock or location errors
• Communicating effectively with internal departments
• Supporting with general warehouse duties as required

Essential Skills & Experience

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (externally accredited)
• Full UK driving licence and own transport (due to location)
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload efficiently
• Comfortable with manual handling (lifting up to 25kg)
• Confident using ladders when required
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Desirable

• Previous warehouse or picking & packing experience
