Join a growing regional service team supporting large-scale industrial refrigeration and chiller systems across Sunderland, with additional work on expanding contracts toward the Leeds area. This is a hands-on, technically focused role suited to engineers who enjoy working on complex plant and want long-term stability, development, and support from a national engineering network.
What you’ll be doing
In this mobile service role, you’ll take ownership of the maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of industrial-size chillers and refrigeration systems across customer sites. You’ll be a key technical point of contact, trusted to diagnose issues, carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and respond to breakdowns efficiently and safely.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing industrial refrigeration and chiller plant
- Carrying out PPM and reactive call-outs
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control faults
- Producing clear service reports and recommending improvements
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, compliantly, and to a high standard
- Working independently on site while collaborating closely with the wider service team

What we’re looking for
- Refrigeration apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience working on industrial refrigeration and large-scale chillers
- Experience with HFC systems and ideally ammonia and/or CO2
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, piping diagrams, and system layouts
- F-Gas 2079 and ammonia handling certification
- Familiarity with major OEMs such as SABROE, Frick, York, Bitzer, Howden
- Strong diagnostic skills and a proactive, customer-focused mindset
- Full UK driving licence
