Robert Half are partnering with an SME lender to recruit a Head of Finance/FPA Lead. They are located in the City of London and offer a hybrid working model.


The Role

An experienced, hands-on Head of Finance / FP&A to professionalise, automate, and elevate the finance function while acting as a strategic partner to the business.

This role blends execution and leadership, managing day-to-day finance while building a best-in-class FP&A capability to support continued rapid growth.


Profile Sought

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • 8-10 years PQE in fintech and/or with lending experience
  • Proven experience scaling finance in a high-growth, fast-paced environment
  • Strong FP&A capability with advanced modelling skills
  • Hands-on operator who can still operate strategically
  • Confident, articulate, and commercially minded
  • Experienced in building structure, pace, and rigour into finance teams
  • Comfortable taking ownership and "speeding things up" for the business


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Confident communicator capable of engaging with investors and senior stakeholders
  • Challenge the business constructively and support strategic decision-making
  • Help shape and articulate commercial strategy

FP&A & Commercial Modelling

  • Build and own robust financial models, including revenue forecasting
  • Develop FP&A processes from the ground up (budgeting, forecasting, metrics)
  • Translate commercial activity into clear, actionable insights

Finance Operations & Reporting

  • Lead and develop a small, capable finance team
  • Own production of management reporting and month-end processes
  • Automate existing manual processes (currently spreadsheet-heavy)
  • Move revenue recognition and month-end close into systems
  • Improve reporting efficiency, accuracy, and speed

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive automation across finance processes
  • Work with Xero and the in-house loan management system
  • Play a key role in future ERP implementation
  • Continuously solve complex problems and improve how finance supports the business
