We are seeking a dedicated Direct Payments Caseworker to join our Adult Social Care team within the Adult Services Directorate. This role is crucial for supporting children and adults to access care and support through Direct Payments. You will work closely with clients, their families, and external organisations, providing essential advice and managing financial information to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Engage directly with vulnerable service users, providing specialist knowledge across all client groups.
  • Maintain daily communication through phone, email, and face-to-face interactions with service users and their representatives, as well as internal and external partners.
  • Assess the suitability for Direct Payments in collaboration with social care professionals.
  • Plan and execute interventions for assigned cases, offering advice, guidance, and direct support.
  • Manage and audit client financial information, ensuring compliance with Direct Payments eligibility criteria.
  • Provide support and advice on Direct Payments to inform decision-making for clients and professionals.
  • Contribute to team efforts, including training and supporting junior staff.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive data records on the core social care IT system.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong understanding of Direct Payments processes and relevant social care legislation, such as the Care Act 2014.
  • Knowledge of employment law and practices.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle conflicting demands and deadlines.
  • Superior communication skills, capable of engaging with clients and staff at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Requirements:

  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive data.
  • Direct experience with public interactions and the ability to manage complex cases independently.
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle
