Salary: £18.20 - £19.75 per hour depending on experience

The role

An established organisation is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide leadership across core operational functions during a period of change and development.

This is a hands-on role supporting senior leadership, with responsibility for Health & Safety, governance, compliance, HR, systems and facilities as well as IT. You’ll play a key part in stabilising, improving and embedding effective operational practices across the organisation.


Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all operational functions, including HR, Health & Safety, risk, governance and IT systems
  • Provide operational insight, analysis and recommendations to senior leadership
  • Take ownership of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management and policy adherence
  • Act as Data Protection Officer, ensuring GDPR compliance and robust data governance
  • Lead organisation-wide policy reviews, ensuring legal compliance and consistency
  • Maintain and update the risk register, reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Oversee Health & Safety systems across multiple sites in line with HSE guidance
  • Manage facilities, insurance, office operations and supplier relationships
  • Support or lead systems improvement and transformation projects
  • Prepare reports and present information to senior leadership and governance groups

About you

You’ll be a confident operational leader who can quickly get to grips with complex environments and provide calm, practical leadership.


Essential:

  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety management systems
  • Proven experience in a senior operational or management role
  • Experience covering HR, risk, governance and compliance
  • Confident advising managers on HR and employment matters
  • Experience leading or supporting systems or process improvements
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Comfortable preparing reports and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to work independently

Desirable:

  • Experience within the charity, public or voluntary sector
  • IOSH qualification
