Assistant Financial Accountant
Department: Finance
Reporting to: Financial Reporting Manager and Chief Financial Officer
Location: Christchurch, Dorset
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum (depending on experience)
We are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to support the Financial Reporting function of a privately owned group. The role will involve assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts, financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax compliance across multiple entities.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced finance professional looking to develop their technical accounting experience, particularly in statutory reporting and group accounting.
This role would suit an ACCA/ACA part-qualified or AAT qualified accountant currently working in practice who is looking to move into industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare working papers supporting the preparation of Group accounts in accordance with IFRS where applicable.
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts for all subsidiaries in compliance with current UK GAAP.
- Perform fund accounting for Trusts and assist in the preparation of Trust accounts.
- Support accounting processes related to investment management activities.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of corporate and personal tax computations.
- Review accounting records at the entity level on a monthly basis.
- Provide management accounting and financial management support for Meyrick Estate Management, including recharges.
- Reconcile intercompany transactions across Group entities.
- Assist with drafting financial reports for the Group.
- Undertake ad hoc tasks and financial project work as directed by the Chief Financial Officer, Financial Reporting Manager, or Finance Manager.
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or relevant accounting experience
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Good Excel skills
- Experience preparing reconciliations and working with financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Part-qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA / AAT
- Experience with statutory accounts preparation
- Familiarity with UK GAAP and/or IFRS
- Experience working with multi-entity or group structures.
- Knowledge of Corporation Tax
