Job Description: Nursery Assistant

Overview

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Nursery Assistant to join our early years team in Runcorn. You will support the delivery of high-quality childcare, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 0–5 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day care and supervision of children in the nursery
• Assist in planning and delivering engaging, age-appropriate activities
• Help create a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment
• Observe children’s development and report progress to senior staff
• Promote children’s social, emotional, and physical development
• Assist with feeding, toileting, and personal care routines
• Work in line with safeguarding, health and safety, and Ofsted requirements
• Build positive relationships with children, parents/carers, and colleagues
• Set up and tidy away activities and learning resources

Skills and Experience

• A genuine passion for working with young children
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Patient, caring, and enthusiastic attitude
• Basic understanding of child development (desirable)
• Previous nursery or childcare experience (preferred but not essential)
• Ability to follow policies and procedures

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (desirable)
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Paediatric First Aid (desirable, training may be provided)

Compliance Requirements

• Enhanced DBS check (required)
• Right to work in the UK
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
