An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on and reliable Depot Operative to join a growing and dynamic engineering-focused business in Birmingham. Known for its structured processes, high-quality equipment, and collaborative working environment, the organisation continues to expand its operations and service delivery. This role will be based within a busy depot, supporting both warehouse logistics and equipment assembly functions.

Your Roles and Responsibilities
While in this role your duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Receiving, offloading, and storing hire equipment in line with off-hire procedures
  • Accurately picking and preparing hire contracts using internal systems and picking lists
  • Washing, checking, and maintaining hoses, fittings, and associated equipment
  • Managing inbound and outbound goods, ensuring all orders are complete and accurate
  • Supporting depot transfer, hire exchange, and repair processes
  • Filtering, measuring, labelling, and storing glycol in accordance with procedures
  • Conducting thorough checks on returned equipment and escalating discrepancies where necessary
  • Loading and unloading delivery vehicles safely and efficiently
  • Undertaking stock checks as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor
  • Carrying out mechanical and electrical assembly of standard and project-based equipment
  • Testing assembled equipment where required
  • Following all Health & Safety guidelines and maintaining high housekeeping standards
  • Supporting emergency call-outs and participating in on-call and late shift rotas
  • Assisting with additional tasks as required by the management team

What You Will Need To Apply:
Please apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or engineering environment
  • Mechanical and/or electrical assembly experience or relevant engineering studies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Confident using hand tools safely and effectively
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
  • Basic IT and computer literacy
  • A forklift licence (counterbalance or flexi) is advantageous but not essential
  • Willingness to work varied hours, including late shifts and on-call duties
